Decision and Choice Making
We live in a world of choice. Big and small decisions, our yes/no radar is constantly on. The more information we get, the more aspects we have to take into account. With access to data and information constantly growing and with a world that becomes more interconnected and globalized it’s starting to become really hard to make decisions.
In this session we look into what humans actually base decisions on, or not, and how designers and marketers work to “help” us make choices.
Petter Johansson, Lund University
Cognitive scientist who’ll tell us about choice blindness and self-knowledge, the things we think we know about ourselves but don’t.
Renata Salecl, University of Ljubljana
Philosopher and sociologist whose topic will be the anxiety our endless choices lead to and how to cope with it.
Joe Leech, User Experience Designer
UX Designer Joe Leech will talk from a user experience perspective on how to understand the psychology of decision making.
